About Earthrise: Planetary Benefits
Algae represents two-thirds of the Earth's living biomass and is beginning to have a profound impact. Millions of people are now consuming this life enhancing microalgae. Ecologically grown Spirulina can yield 20 times more protein per area than soybeans and 200 times more than beef cattle. As algae production expands using non-fertile land and brackish water, deforestation for the purpose of growing new food can be avoided. Cropland can return to wilderness. When more people eat lower on the food chain, we can halt pressures to destroy wilderness and help regreen our planet.
Humanitarian Projects Around the World
Over the years, Earthrise® has been asked to donate Spirulina to many humanitarian projects where Spirulina could make a unique difference around the world. Many of these projects have contributed to research showing how Spirulina can benefit us.
Donation to Clinics in Chernobyl, Belarus and Ukraine
After the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986, Earthrise® donated much needed Spirulina upon request by radiation clinics in Belarus and Ukraine.
Donation to Intercultural Family Services, Philadelphia, USA
Earthrise® donated Spirulina for a study involving HIV/AIDS patients.
Donation to Hospital Principal, Dakar, Senegal
Because more support from agencies like the United Nations is needed to provide Spirulina to malnourished people, Earthrise® supports nutrition research. Earthrise® Spirulina was donated for a study on malnutrition in pre-school children.
Donation to Native American Association, Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico, USA
Earthrise® Spirulina was donated to the first Native American association for people living with cancer in a Gathering of Cancer Support.
Donation to Bosnian Refugee Children, Croatia
Earthrise® sent Spirulina to hospitals in Croatia for Bosnian children, victims of the war in the Balkans.
Sponsoring Spirulina Farms in Developing Countries
Earthrise® has sponsored Spirulina farms in developing world villages in India, Peru and Togo. These projects were designed by Dr. Ripley D. Fox and the non-profit organization ACMA of France. Dr. Fox is the inventor of the Integrated Village Health and Energy System. Now Spirulina farms are blossoming in China, Burma, India, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
Supported International Conferences
Earthrise® has sponsored, supported and participated in several international conferences in algal biotechnology.
(The 10th International Conference on Applied Phycology & the 2nd Congress of International Society of Applied Phycology.)
Our commitment to the future
Earthrise® Nutritionals is committed to make similar contributions in the future. We believe Spirulina will contribute towards the promotion of better health.
